Gradi, day 23 of Autumn, 554
If I
hadn't been there, I wouldn't have believed it. Today's trip was worse than
the previous (bad) one. Today we failed to pass through the Dred Passage, for
the first time in a very very long time.
The group was a bit smaller than usual, and in particular was lacking the usual comfortable excess of Horus since Sai was unable to come. That proved to be our main problem in the end.
The Dred Passage was as hot as I have ever seen it. The lightning was flying fast and furious, and no sooner had we cleared some of the junk orga than it was full of more. We did fighter run after fighter run, then decided to try a fast run through with the entire group. J'jh was doing the South rod point job, and hit bad weather and simply stopped in her tracks about halfway down to the path to the South pit. When she fell, so did several others near her, and we beat a hasty retreat to the tunnel.
In rescuing several fallens, we retrieved bodies that were too fried to raise, and things only got worse as would-be rescuers kept getting trapped in junk and quickly toasted beyond healability.
In the end, once we had everyone gathered into the tunnel again, we decided to head home via the Orga Village instead of pressing onward with multiple fallens on chains.
One can only hope that the coming Chaos Storm cleanses the Dred Passage of a vast excess of Dredlocks!
