Pitch Assault Group, trip 48.

Lundi, day 11 of Summer, 555

Today's trip actually left on time, and with no Meadow oversleepers or late arrivals. We moved right along to PC1 in good time.

When CJ parker entered to run the Noids East into PC2, she found but a single Crimson Noid (and a mix of Olives and Malachites) and just ran them around PC1 and called everyone in instead of just the usual pit runner/zu teams. About the time we were all entering and I as was zuing off the Southwest pit, a large number of Crimsons appeared and threw us into confusion. Folks began fighting and retreating, and I ran a large number of Arachnoids around as I tried to get a look at the Southeast pit to see if it was zued off. After seeing it was okay, I started heading out but fell to the milling Noids.

Once the group had retreated back upstairs, a runner drew the webbers East as usual, and the non-webbers were killed and fallens raised. We decided we would forego altering tactics on the fly from now on, and proceed as usual when setting up in PC1 from now on.

Once PC1 was consolidated, we moved right along in clearing and entering PC2, PC3 and PC4. Thankfully, PC3 threw us no big curves like it had last week, and we were pleased to be past it and moving into PC5 again.

The teleport into PC6 worked fine, but the Landing Zone was rather busy. I hung back and waited for the runners to draw some Noids and lead them out to the Northwest, then headed out myself to plant some Zu walls. Natas managed to plant 2 of the partial walls in the North passage, but as I passed him to plant more further West or even at the Southwest pit, I was faced with a wall of Noids coming back South. Either the runners lost some, or more came quickly up from the South. Either way, there was no way past them. I decided to turn back and head to the fighting area in the Landing Zone, but since I was already wounded, of course the Noids followed me. Natas's walls didn't slow them much, since there were so many. Between the Noids already milling about the Landing Zone and those that quickly entered from the North, we were doomed to a quick extermination.

In retrospect, I should have pressed on into the mass of Noids in the North passage to fall there - to give Natas time to seal off the corridor - rather than bringing more Noids back with me. Once sealed off, though, it's hard to see how anyone might have cut a hole in the wall to allow manageable lures. every time we have sealed off the passage, we have sealed ourselves into a tight pen. There were a LOT of Noids up there, and they seemed intent of coming South. It was just one of those "bad luck landing" days.
