Lundi, day 39 of Summer, 555
With a clean
start, we arrived at PC1 in a remarkable 45 minutes.
Consolidating our hold on PC1 went very smoothly, and we were soon marching our way through PC2 and PC3.
PC4 was particularly tough today. There was a mix of non-luring Olive and Malachite Arachnoids at the entry, with support from webbers just beyond. that pretty much ruled out our usual long-distance lures, so we moved up to the PC3 exit area. After many fighter runs (and falls, and chains) the Noid crowd was thinned enough to finally Zu off the North half and advance to PC5.
Today we had two Mystics (Hepta and Callia) and two Strange Stones, but after some quick discussion we opted for a single teleport. Every attempt at double teleports so far has been problematic in some way or other, and it feels jinxed.
Callia did the honors, and brought us to PC6 without a hitch.
The hitch came the moment we landed, since the PC6 Landing Zone was already full of Arachnoids. The runners did make it out, but there were so many Arachnoids in the LZ I think it made no difference. I was able to take maybe a doxen steps before I was down, and most others told a similar story. J'jh and Sai managed to stay up awhile longer than most by dodging around a partial Zu fort Tonoto had started before he was downed, but were never able to find a quiet moment to either heal any living fighters or to raise any fallens. Pretty soon, all was quiet again as the entire group was annihilated. My view of the teleport and landing is here.
When the landing is crowded like that, I really have no idea what else we might do to manage the many Noids and survive. Perhaps the very next time we do have the luxury of two Mystics along, we should send one first with a small initial runner group and then teleport the main group into the (hopefully) cleared out Landing Zone.
