Current Training: Urgelt (Swengus). I finally reached 'devotion to studies'.
Circle test this week: 6th looks awfully tough. Four tough critters, with a lot of motion in the backfield, plus those annoying rocks to dodge. Since I had never seen a Midnight Wendecka myself, I was pleased to note that I could actually hit them. The Orga Wrath is iffy, although I have actually killed on in the Coliseum before. I definitely have a lot of training before me.
Donations: Cassia Allin. Are all the builders in the Lands on strike?
Exploration: I can see the path at Fat Alice's Beach ... and Coeur can open it!
Sombdi, day 59 of Spring, 545.
I really haven't much to say lately. I've been busy mainly with collecting coins, and have been doing quite well at it, but it is not very exciting. I keep hoping to run into a Forest Drake or find a Bard instrument part to break the routine!
Sombdi, day 38 of Spring, 545.
I've been busy with quite a few fun hunts. Yet another Sun Wyrm hunt in the Rocky Caverns a couple of days ago, where we killed 2.
Even us "off-peak" timers are getting strong. Maybe strong enough to really venture into the dangerous corners of these islands.
Today it was Blind Amphibians in the Tahxis cave, where we killed two, followed by a round of KI waters, hunting Baltoise, and then Fat Alice's basement, hunting Stinging Beetles and Cave Cobra.
While circumnavigating KI, we found a Culcan. Urgelt decided he wanted to test whether he could hit this fearsome seabeast, so we lured it to the cove at Fat Alice's beach and I let it attack me while Urgelt tried hitting it from behind with his Fell Blade. First, he did hit it pretty well, and second, I withstood a surprising 6 hits without falling, when I didn't swing at it.
So we called in Thuja and Tater to rod it, and I drew blood a couple of times myself while Urgelt finished it off relatively easily. It's amazing to me that with good healer help, Urgelt can now solo a Culcan.
I am saddened and shocked by all the talk of 'opsec' and 'secondary throw-away campers' and 'hunting preserves' and 'item theft' that is ringing on the news scrolls, and all the animosity this has brought to the surface. So many exiles with so many agendas, hidden or in plain view, and so few speaking out about our common enemies and common destinies. Then again, everyone here in Puddleby was exiled for a reason, and in many cases that reason is that we were deemed troublemakers, or criminals. Still, there is much cooperation in the Lands, especially when it matters, that I remain hopeful that this storm will pass like other past ones have.
Fordi, day 30 of Spring, 545.
Yet another Sunwyrm hunt in the Rocky
Cavern with Urgelt. He is getting very good at trapping these.
Despite all the red showing in the sketch, we did finish off the beast successfully.
Well, ok, I fell at the last moment.
Cusea, a pathfinding mystic, wanted
to go see if she could open the Wishergate. I have been meaning to get out there
myself to try my luck at it, so I joined a small crew to escort her there.
We met with little Orga resistance as we headed deep into the Snaggywood. With a bit of luring (with me as the bait), we killed several Warlocks in the Bones snell and advanced to try the gate.
Neither Cusea nor I could see the path, or pass through, despite some sleeping and pushing.
As Tyndall said, "Better luck next time." I keep hoping ...
Lundi, day 26 of Spring, 545.
Over the past few days, Algernon has been the subject of some controversy. Rather, the absence of a living Algernon in Town Center has been noted, and his earthly remains have seemed to find themselves in some pretty far-off spots in the Lands. Today was no different.
Things did come to a head today, as Perkusi accused Prue of masterminding Algernon's fall and the subsequent hiding of the evidence (his body).
* Puddleby Court is now in session.
* Perkusi v Prue,
accused of stealing Algernon's body..
After a raucous trial, in which Prue claimed to be in fact Algernon's greatest protector, she was found guilty and banished from inside the town walls.
Merdi, day 22 of Spring, 545.
Exiles at the Dark Chamber needed some
rescue assistance, so I happily rowed over to lend my blade to the effort.
I chained several fallens out to get healed (including Coeur, who was luring the Wailing Spirits from the inner hall to the outer hall to the waiting fighters, and somehow decided running into a Rune room was a great idea, and fell there).
We stayed to clear out the place. When I turned around for a moment, everyone had left. Well, everyone but the dwarves. I found myself surrounded by dwarves. Creepy.
Later, I joined up with Mouser to hunt
Tree Giants in the Tree Giant Breeding Grounds. We killed several Tree Giants
and couple of Willow Giants.
When that was empty, we turned North toward Jannar's Grove, in hopes there might be more trees there.
Jannar's Grove lived up to it's nickname, 'Junker's Grove', as usual, when we found it full of an assortment of junk.
Today it was an unusual mix, though, with mainly Darshak Thugs and Brown Ferals. Some nice furs were recovered, but not a Tree Giant in sight...
Sombdi, day 10 of Spring, 545.
While out exploring and hunting some
in the Snaggywood, I ran into a huge horde of vermines.
\pon I can see it now:
"Just say, 'Savanna-Size It.'"
"Vermine. Not Just For The Savanna Anymore."
"When You Care Enough To Spawn the Very Best."
One hopes this isn't a common occurance.
Orga Shaman seem to have talking to Prue, because they all seem to be distinctly more green lately.
Lundi, day 5 of Spring, 545.
I decided to take a quick nap inside
Elendil's tree in the meadow today, and got a big surprise.
As far as I know, this is a perfectly safe spot. I had seen an orga enter the tunnel under the tree before, but had never seen any creatures inside the hollow tree itself. Until today.
This Giant Vermine apparently had decided this dry hollow was a good spot to wait in ambush. So be warned that this spot is not as safe as you might think.
I also helped Urgelt and company kill two sunwyrms in the Rocky Cavern. Hunting these is starting to be a habit again. I also helped on a Scarmis/Dal'Noth hunt, which is always a fun combination.
Merdi, day 1 of Spring, 545.
We were doing a quick hunt around Kizmia's
Island and had stopped off to kill some Cave Maha and Stinging Beetles in Fat
Alice's basement.
On the way out to the boats, Coeur apparently decided to take a look at the path leading into the interior of the island.
"Oops!", he yelled out.
Oops indeed.
When I went to look, there he was on the
wrong side of the treeline.
He didn't get very far before the Lyfelidae got him. It was midnight, after all, not the optimal time for a solo explorer to wander there.
It is nice to know he can open it though.
I have never tried pushing against it to test it from the time I was able to actually see the path, since without a strong group at your back, you aren't making it out on your feet.
Well, Coeur is always looking for new and amusing ways to fall -- I think the interior of Kizmia's Island will serve him well in that regard.
