Current Training: Regia (through Mujin-kun), now that Evus (and Balthus) raised his assessment of my skills yet again.
Circle test this week: Not attempted yet.
Donations: Undrus.
Exploration: Looking to the East ...
Terrdi, day 5 of Summer, 546.
Today, the Kizmia's Island East Cove
beach looked so deadly, we didn't even bother landing.
With a reception committee of five Cave Cobras waiting, it didn't seem prudent.
I went with Coeur, Cyberbeing and Sheba on a fun Snaggywood hunt, instead. No one felt like poking their nose into Hatred Hollow though.
Yesterday, we did have a fun but painful
hunt at the East Cove.
It was daytime, but the Lyfelidae were out in force. Quite a number of the tougher varieties were around too, Flowers, Thunders.
Mujin and I killed many Lyfelidae, until we ran into not one, but two Cold Lyfelidae in the forest. Even in their daytime form, these beasts are very tough indeed. Quite a crowd of exiles gathered finally to clear the area, and it took a several attempts and more than a few fallen exiles before these two were killed.
Thankfully, no one was infected.
I also managed to slip into the Coliseum recently and fight some Orga Wraths. Two out of three isn't bad.
Soldi, day 71 of Spring, 546.
I have been doing a bit of exploring
and path-refreshing lately.
Today I was on Fire Island looking around the Lake and refreshing the path leading into McBolie's caverns when I thought I saw a Bolok Cougar. Never one to shrink from a potentially fine fur, I chased it down.
The quickest glance while skinning it confirmed that it wasn't a Bolok at all, but a Sand Tiger!
I had not seen one of these fearsome beasts since before the War, at the Desert Oasis through the Mirror room.
They aren't very fearsome to me now, it seems.
All that wandering has not kept
me from gathering coins regularly.
This Honey really did show us the money.
Sombdi, day 63 of Spring, 546.
At long last (and after a bit of confusion
after a Darkus miscount), Evus tells me that we should work together to learn
more advanced fighting techniques. Whoo!
After that last Darkus training that put me over the top with Evus, I also trained once with Swengus, and now Balthus tells me that that I may be proud of my accomplishment.
I know I am relatively low in Regia's training in balance recovery, so I will train with her for a bit before getting back to Evus again. I estimate that 90 trainings with Regia would make Swengus' estimate of my ability jump by 200. That's quite a deficit to make up, and will take time. I will alternate Regia and Evus for awhile.
Soon after I stepped out of the library
today, I was told that there was a Slime Monster invasion near the East Gate
of town.
I had never seen these recently-identified slippery and peculiar creatures before, so I headed straight over to have a look.
Quite a number of Slime Monsters of various sizes were oozing around town, and the few exiles awake were taking quite a beating. At a quick glance, they very much reminded me of the very difficult Landews of Dal'Noth Island, but thankfully were much easier to deal with. I was able to fend off their attacks pretty well, although I was coated with slime several times and fell once, and was heavily damaged several times. These beasts have prodigious amounts of health, and required a lot of hacking to finally kill.
They have the curious ability to split into two smaller and tougher Slime Monsters when heavily damaged, and can repeat this quite a number of times, so a great many of these tiniest Slimes can begenerated from one Giant Slime. They also appear to be able to rejoin into larger assemblies, if given the chance. I concentrated on separating and killing the smallest ones, since this seemed to be the only way to ever come to an end of these annoying creatures. As others damaged the larger ones, there seemed to be ever more of the tiniest ones. All told, I killed over 60 of these Tiny Slime Monsters before the town appeared free of them.
The rumour going around town was that my fellow POS member Shen Calin had been complaining that he was bored, and had prayed for some excitement just before the invasion. During the heat of the battle, I noticed this:
Soldi, day 43 of Spring, 546.
I finished out my time before the Storm primarily by scavaging for coins and hunting Lyfelidae on the coast of Kizmia's Island with Mujin-kun. I have had enough coins on hand (finally) that I could resume coin-bombing Perkusi. She complains, but enjoys the attention.
After the recent Storm, I did some probing toward the East end of the island. I scoured the rock walls of the Savanna and the Old Cemetary without success, then joined my fellow POS members Elenis Reyav and Shen Calin to examine the Wendecka Breeding Grounds. We found plenty of Wendeckas (but no Silverback), but nothing that looked new. Our expedition ended badly when both Elenis and I got surrounded in the southern breeding enclave (between mid and South passes) and were felled by dozens of pebbles.
I still need a better look around the walls of the Greymyr Village, and the Northeast Forest/Plains areas.
I was disappointed when Evus refused to raise his estimation of me last week, then looking over my training I realized that I had overestimated my Darkus training by just enough to keep him unimpressed with my recent Histia training. Just a few more lessons with him should put me over the top. Then it is back to a rotation of Evus and Swengus for some time.
