Terrdi, day 75 of Summer, 546.
I was hunting bears for coins, as
usual, when I felt that Sheba had fallen to lightning. Then heard Conaria cry
out that she and others were in trouble in the Rieger snell of the Snaggywood.
I immediately headed that way, and was joined by Noivad in the Orga Camp. Both of us had rushed there from hunts, and were pretty wounded already, but we rushed right into the Snaggywood anyway with the hope that the trail would be fairly clear from the group that preceeded us. We made our way through some serious crowds of Orga, unexpectedly, and when we came to Rieger's snell, and found it alive with lightning coming from several directions, as well as some fallens.
We split up, hoping to clear the area of lightning-throwers quickly. I managed to kill one Warlock, but was already getting dangerously low on health. I took a chance and ran into Bones' snell, hoping for a quiet moment. I saw lightning chasing me immediately, but also the fallen D'nah. I grabbed her on a chain and returned to Rieger, and grabbed Sheba and Conaria just in time to watch Noivad fall as well.
After grabbing him, I was quite red myself, and needed a quick way away from the Warlocks. Normally, I would have run to the East and then South and East to Sagramor's snell, but I clearly wasn't going to last long enough near Rieger's tree for that. I took a chance on a longer route with less time near warlocks, and went North again to Bones' snell, then South immediately, but outside the marker stones to Aki's snell. A dangerous gamble, as Aki's snell is often the worst in the wood (other than Bones). Luckily, it wasn't too crowded, and I need to go North anyway.
I was breathless and almost healthless by the time I made it to Sagramor.
After resting a bit to gain some health and make a hurried sketch, however, I pressed on toward home. I was almost out of the Orga Camp when I was totally surrounded. Doubly unfortunate because none of my chain riders were close enough for me to get a quick pull to freedom, and triply unfortunate that a Shaman was nearby and flamed me to death before I could hack my way free.
I did have the foresight to use my sunstone to ask for help, though, and my POS-mates Dude and Manx cleared the Orga Camp and healed us all, respectively. So it wasn't quite a clean rescue, but it definitely was an exciting one.
Unfortunately, during all the excitement, two other would-be rescuers, Larno and Callus, entered the Snaggywood and got surrounded. Sadly, both quickly departed before we were raised and could go look for them.
