Soldi, day 14 of Autumn, 547.
The
season's change is making itself felt in the Lands.
The days seem shorter and the nights cooler. The quackers have noticed as well, and have begun their migration to unknown regions to the South. Wheat seems to be ready for harvest as well. Can Winter be far off?
I felt it was time for a change as well, so I decided to stop training with K'Pyn after some 100 lessons in a row, and switched to DeathLord's style of Evus training.
I did train enough with K'Pyn to get both Regia and Swengus to recognize new levels of accomplishment (that bum Swengus finally bows deeply, may his back ache).
However, I fear that gaining the approval of either Evus or Swengus to teach others myself is just as far away now as it was over a year ago, due to a stream of other exiles qualifying as trainers in the intervening time and each time raising the requirements for the job.
My best guesses are that I still need another 100 trainings with Evus, or with Regia, to qualify for a training ledger.
Sigh.
I will continue to train as I will, and maybe one day I will actually reach this goal. I'm past counting on it, though.
Sombdi, day 75 of Summer, 547.
Emboldened by my recent re-learning
of the Wisher's gate path, I decided to try the McBolie's cavern paths. I slipped
right into the cave entrance easily enough, and carefully threaded my way through
the dark caverns to the exit. I could see a glimmer of light from the exit to
the surface inside the crater, but just couldn't squeeze my way through. Too
much eating, I fear. I will diet a bit and come back to try again.
Gradi, day 71 of Summer, 547.
Well, I have been absent from the
Lands for nearly two zodiacs, doing intense studies. I was most pleased to finally
make my way out of the library and shake the dust off.
While I was hunting to make up for my recent costly studies, Larno announced he was starting a Wisher Gate expedition, as he was trying to learn the path there. Since I had lost the ability to use this as well, I joined in so I could get some more practice there.
Unfortunately, the group had a hard time when they actually went into Hatred Hollow, and we lost some folks beyond the gate, including the one pathfinder able to open the way. On the way out of the snaggywood to bring back help, most of the rest of the group fell as well. I managed to chain several to Sagramor's snell, where we recovered our health and finally set out back to the gate with a new pathfinder, Serv.
With some effort, we cleared many small orga and assorted other creatures, and were able to finally drag out our fallens. In the course of rushing in and out of Hatred Hollow, I noticed first that I could see the path again, and eventually, that I could open it by myself.
Lesson learned. I will revisit this path at least once a storm so I won't forget it again.
