Fordi, Day 63 of Spring.

I managed to track down the healer Cyradis, who prepared a Luminescent Salve for me from the ingredients generously donated by Shen Callin and Elenis Reyav. Thanks Cyradis! Thanks fellow birders! Thank you also Winds of Dawn, for keeping track of trained professionals, so I knew who to ask.

When I rubbed this salve on myself this evening, I quickly and unceremoniously returned to my normal state. Ahhh! Blessed normality!

I went hunting for berries in the Snaggywood earlier this afternoon, and found myself surrounded in Nyssa's snell and was slowly roasted to death. Oh, I long to consistently one-hit those pesky Orga!

Swing and Nightbird organized a rescue party, and once I was raised by Day and Aleena, I convinced them to join me for a peek through Wisher's Gate. Together with Dongle and Gauntlet, we marched steadily through the Snaggywood and into Bones' snell. As expected, my constant returns to the Gate paid off when I could open it right away. Aleena was unable to see the path, but with practice I'm hopefl she will learn it eventually.

We found several Furies and assorted other Orga in Hatred Hollow, and behind us in Bones at one point, but we made steady work at reducing their numbers. Day did a remarkable job of single-handedly holding the Warlock lightning at bay while we hunted. Eventually, Nightbird got ambitious and took a number of bolts, and we ended up aborting the hunt so I could chain him home to be raised.

And on the way out, what did I see before me in Newton's snell but a fresh orgaberry cluster waiting for me to pluck it!

The raffle of these berries should go a fair way toward paying for my new catsbane necklace.

Gradi, day 60 of Spring, 548.

The hunting in the East Cove of Kizmia's Island was heavy last evening, when I was hunting there with Mujin-kun, Elenis Reyav and Nelaton.

We were hurting while fighting two Hunter's Lyfelidae and a Starbuck just beyond the cave exit, and I tried to slip in and finish off the Starbuck despite being severely wounded already. The Buck wheeled quickly to attack me, and I was felled hard. I felt an all too-familiar prickling sensation as I hit the dirt.

Yep, I was infected once again.

There was really no excuse for it. I had obtained a fresh piece of catsbane recently and given away my old protective necklace to a poor healer who needed one more often than I, intending to immediately make a new necklace. But I kept getting sidetracked, and thought I would earn fresh coins for this expense instead of dipping into my savings to buy it. Foolish, foolish!

Luckily, my clanmates Elenis and Shen Calin generously donated a tuft of Lyfelidae fur and a Scarmis egg. Plus, we found a catsbane in the snow, and I won it. So I have all the makings of the cure and a new necklace. I will be back to normal as soon as I find a healer skilled in the art of preparing the luminescent salve. Once healed, I will not wait longer to get a necklace either!

As further proof of my rash fighting today, I note that I felt my fourth rush of experience for experimenting in a risky fighting style that will one day qualify me to wield a Bloodblade.

This, after several years of avoiding such experiences!

I need to better control my temper, and fight with a clearer mind.

Fordi, day 35 of Spring, 548.

I apologize to any regular readers for the lack of new notes in these scrolls for many, many days. I have been studying quite a lot lately, since the Librarian made me an offer I could not refuse. When I do get outside, it generally is not for very long these days.

Today was a welcome exception.

I spent a pleasant afternoon and night hunting on Kizmia's Island with a small group including Michael, Yor, Kojiro, Shobaffum, Tater, Tharloch and Alchemist.

Being a small group, we spent the few daylight hours on the South end of the island, and went over to the more controllable North side at nightfall (after a brief rest at the whirlpool where I made this sketch).

The hunt was a lot of fun, because everyone worked well together and the Lyfelidae were very accomodating. I practiced an entire lesson with Darkus while there.

The good news is that I amazed myself with my performance on today's 6th circle test. I could taste the victory, but was slapped down by the Young Sasquatch just a bit short of the prize. I whiffed a couple times, and then with both of us red, the Sasquatch got in the better blow.

I am greatly heartened that the extra bit of much-needed Darkus I have been training lately is proving to be immensely helpful. I am looking forward to my next attempt with much anticipation.

The bad news is that while I have been working these past few weeks on getting the final training needed to have my own Ledger from Evus, two others have slipped ahead of me and qualified: Mellion and Ziff Rengar. I redouble my efforts to finally reach this goal, and hope I don't have to watch it dancing just out of reach much longer!
