Soldi, day 26 of Autumn, 550.
I joined Tyndall, Shen Calin and K'Pyn
in hunting at a very very busy Fat Alice's beach on Kizmia's Island last night.
We found a large herd of gold and orange Lyfelidae awaiting us.
The golds turned out to be a mix of Starbuck and Thunder Lyfelidae, and although we stalked them one-by-one, I still managed to find myself on my back counting stars after being slashed terribly by one of the Bucks. Ouch!
Today was a significant day for training. I finished my 2000th lesson today. Yet another lesson with Evus.
Still, when I checked K'Pyn's training, he suggested that I would benefit more from his lessons than he would from mine.
Yesterday night, I joined a group hunting
the South-side interior of Kizmia's Island.
In addition to those pictured, we also had along Lorikeet and Babajaga.
We visited the Castle because Babjaga wanted to buy some clothing inside. When she ran into trouble, Sabbit and I found trouble ourselves when we went to help Iho get through to her and were trapped by Fire Rats on the second floor and toasted by a group of Torched Fervors. We ended up on Iho's chain, and Lorikeet got her first workout of the evening.
It would not be her last.
We all made it through safely, but I found myself fallen several times after unexpectedly powerful hits struck me down. Hardly my first hint that I need yet more Histia and Detha training, but a powerful reminder to work them both into the mix.
I found a tuft of Lyfelidae fur, and none of the others wanted it, so I was pleased to hang on to it.
I also was given gifts of a bright club and glowing club by Babajaga, who had tired of carrying them around after testing them. I guess she didn't find them useful. I'll have to play with them a bit myself, but I like having the option to swing out if I need to kill something fast, rather than wielding a weapon that limits my swings. Anyway, my training is geared toward that (much more Balthus than Detha). I can see they would be most useful for mindlessly hunting for saleable furs, but I doubt I would use them that way, and don't really see where else they would be an advantage.
Soldi, day 12 of Autumn, 550.
I was exploring around the Dark Cloud
when I heard a strange noise in the Cold and Snowy heights. When I finally tracked
down the source, I found myself staring down through a hole in the cloud at
Puddleby Island far, far below.
I was very careful to not get too close to the edge, and was reminded just how terrified of heights one can be.
I ran into Cutlas heading into the Cold and Snowy area on my way out, and just a few minutes later I heard that he had fallen out of the cloud right into the Tanglewood. Ooops.
How many lives do Zo have?
On a recent evening's hunt at Kizmia's
Island East cove, I had occassion to rescue Mujin-kun. Most often, it's the
other way around.
This night, there were many Valley Cougars outside the cave, and she got pounced on by several at once. They are a handful since they got smart and more defensive, but thankfully I still vanquish about half of them.
Gradi, day 83 of Summer, 550.
Like everyone else, I started my day by
staring at the South Forest Mirror and scanning the horizon for that mysterious
dark cloud. Nothing much was happening there, so I chased the cloud around the
Marsh and then into the Savanna. It never did seem to want to drift back toward
the South Forest.
I spent all night hunting in the Kizmia's Island East Cove and Glacier with Mujin-kun. We vanquished over two dozen Tae-su and a dozen Hunter Lyfelidae, and it was nearly dawn when we had finally cleared it totally. At one point, eight Cave Cobras snuck up behind us, but we managed to kill them all by ones and twos. It was a great hunt. I even slaughtered an actual Tae-su fish in the cove on the way out.
But I also managed to fall a depressing 6 times. Mujin laughed and said I need to speak to Detha. A lot.
When dawn broke, we headed to Melabrion's Island with Kamik, and found a goodly number of Young Sasquatches awaiting us as well.
One of those I managed to skin skillfully enough for a whopping 60 coin pelt!
I finally headed in to town to try my luck at that 6th Circle test, and did pretty well with the Orga Fury and Midnight Wendeckas (even skinning one for 33 coins). But despite having almost half my total health left going to face the Young Sasquatch, I was quickly beaten down. I whiffed it four times in a row, and of course it hit meback each time. I thought I was having an extremely unlucky day, when I realized afterward that I had been wearing my Orga Eye for quite a long time. Doh!
Fordi, day 70 of Summer, 550.
I acquired my Training Ledger from
Swengus today, after a long effort. Much, much, much longer than I originally
anticipated.
It only took 990 lessons with Swengus!
If I would have know just how far off my original estimate was, I wonder if I would have started down this road?
I certainly did need all that Regia and Balthus training though, and I feel much more competent overall.
And yet, I still don't
have four solid swings with my axe and I have neglected my offensive skills
for quite a long time. And I haven't finished off that Young Sasquatch to pass
the 6th Circle test.
I switched to Evus immediately, for while I still do want even more Swengus training, I also feel it's really time to get a bit more Atkus and Histia training.
I will stick with Evus at least until I reach the next message change with Atkus, 350.
I was very pleased to see that he is letting me use the same book that Evus does, so I have an unexpected extra spot in my pack and an unexpected extra 250c in my pocket. Nice!
