Merdi, day 81 of Winter, 555.

After an extended stay in the Library, I am glad to be out and about again.

Today, I joined a group (these fighters plus the healers Gandor Durin, J'jh, Talin and Esmeralda) to tackle the Earth Wyrm cave on Gungla Island.

Things went pretty smoothly, considering.

On our first entry, we managed to get a Kudzu wall planted, but with two Earth Wyrms on our side. After a number of attempts and many falls, we vanquished these two to consolidate our foothold, and set about clearing the rest of the cavern.

Inside the cavern, we found a goodly number of Earth Wyrms and Lesser Sand Worms, and even a couple of Sun Wyrms.

Fighting mainly behind a Kudzu wall, we kept things mostly under control and hunted slowly. We had several mishaps where more than one Earth Wyrm managed to sneak into our fighting zone before the luring hole in the wall could be sealed off again, and generally this lead to several fighters falling and then a retreat. Still, we managed to raise everyone and head back into the fight.

It was amusing to watch as a couple of the fighters snatched Earth Wyrm carcasses onto their chains for the hurried trip back to town to the taxidermist. I'm sure they'll make impressive trophies. I preferred to keep at the hunt myself, and really don't know why I'd want such a large reminder of a past hunt getting dusty in a corner anyway.

In the end, we cleared the cave down to the rock walls, and I got my first complete look at this cavern. I was unsurprised to find no paths in any odd corners, but was amused to speak with Spleisha'Sul, who is hiding in the depths of the cave.

I also took note when my clanmate Shen Calin fell on Gungla Island to a Sturdy Oak Giant earlier in the day. He tells me that are much tougher than the usual Oak Giants we are familiar with in TGBG, although they look the same.
