Exploration: Tree Housing is open
Soldi, day 56 of Summer, 556.
Nallia has completed the
building of the treetop housing complex in the North field.
For a dwarf working at heights instead of underground, she did a pretty swell job in my opinion.
Climbing up the mighty oak, one finds passages along the limbs leading to individual units, as well as a store selling some small selection of furniture.
Quite small actually. I do hope they get more selection as time goes by.
One can get quite dizzy from the height up here, but there is a nice view over the North forest and of the farms surrounding Puddleby
When I asked
Nallia who I should talk to about the housing itself, she sent me straight to
Fruta Devine.
When I found Frutain a model home on on a high branch, I was unsurprised to find that she was pushing the largest and most expensive of the housing units.
Works on commission I bet, and Nallia no doubt gets a cut for referrals!
Still, I did look around her unit, and indeed it is a very spacious and airy place, with - as she points out - room enough even for a small-sized clan.
Or a friendly medium-sized one.
I prefer to make my home on the ground, not in it or above it, so I passed on the chance to buy one of these units.
They are quite nice though, if you like that breezy feel.
I stopped by to speak with
Bilth about an antivenom bandolier, but he was sold out as usual.
The poor man needs some helpers, since he clearly is not up to supplying bandoliers to everyone in town who wants one.
Or two.
Terrdi, day 32 of Summer, 556.
I recently
helped rescue several fallens in the Dredwood, and when all were raised I turned
around to find that only Talin, Sagramor and Sa'Wrap were still in Camp Dred
with me. That called for an adventure. I had been meaning to take a look at
the Orga Outback cavern leading to the Dred Passage, and convinced this small
group to try to get me there.
We carefully made our way back through the Foothills to Katpus' cave. Having recently been overwhelmed at the last Foothill snell before the Orga Outback, we stopped to peek there, and were we glad we did. It was loaded with Midnight Wendecka! After clearing there we headed into the Orga Outback and to the Taproot tree and the cave below.
After looking there, we headed over to these trees nearby to search another section of that large cavern.
The cavern has at least 4 separate sections: one section has entry from the Taproot path and exits to the Dred Passage, a second section has entry from these trees and no other exit, a third section has entry from the well in the Orga Village, and the fourth section can be seen (and has Green - not Jade - Arachnoids), but has no known entry.
Having examined two sections
from the Orga Outback, we next headed over to the Orga Village to try our luck
there.
Luck almost was not with us.
In the first, Eastern section of the Village, we had little difficulty, but got separated as I yelled for us to run straight to the Southwest sector for the path to the Well, but the others went to the Southest secor (the pond) instead. Both areas were quiet enough that it wasn't a real probem, and we rejoined forces quickly enough.
Going down into the Well, I searched about in the third section of the cave, but found nothing new there either. Mission accomplished. The entire cave looks like this.
Then we decided to search for an Uli flower.
When we started into the Western half of the Orga Village, it seemed quiet at first, but then we were slammed with intense lightning.
Four Orga Dredlocks tried to cook us alive. With some retreating and luring, we managed to vanquish them all, while dodging an Orga Hatred that tried to flank us. However, raising Sa'Wrap after he fell during one fighter rush cost Talin a potion, so the Uli we finally picked was not a net gain for her.
In any event, it was a lot of fun to wander through the Orga Outback with a very small group, and satisfy my curiousity about those caverns.
Some days ago, I
helped repel a Forest Drake invasion in the East Field.
Quite a number of Drakes landed and attacked exiles, but they were quite skittish and took flight pretty much as soon as attacked.
I had to chase one into the North Forest and another into the Tanglewood to finsih them off.
Several got away.
