PAG has discovered that the crumbling web blocking the stairway down in Slate Cave 5 has finally given way.

This open stairway leads down to a new cave, full of webber Arachnoids, that we are calling SC11.

Our first attempts in exploring SC11 have been ... interesting.

The Arachnoids will not climb up the stairs to SC5, and SC5 is a lousy place to fight anyway as it has permaweb floors and frequent spawns.

So we have to go down to SC11 to fight.

It is not an easy entry for a group, or for runner/zuer teams.

With practice, we are formulating strategies to beat this cave, but so far it has been rather one-sided.

Still, for PAG trips with no teleporting Mystic or with insufficient fighting and healing power to attack the Orga Stronghold, this new cavern makes a good alternative goal.

Another attempt that fared no better.

Although I managed to get a kudzu wall planted, I started it too close to the stairs and it grew mostly to the East.

This left only a small entry area near the ladder, which was all too easily blocked by webs.

Worse, the gap to the far West was large enough that MrFancyPants, our web rodder, enetered, landed on the wrong side of the wall as he came down the stairs (which are under J'jh), and was quickly chewed up by Arachnoids and battered by webs.

Because of the small exit area, exiles trying to escape back upstairs drew webs onto the ladder, utterly blocking it.

Without a working rod, no one could stand up to the heavy barrage of webs, and all were lost.

Still, we are confident that this passage will lead us somewhere interesting and worthwhile, and we shall keep at it.

I found another strand of Falinea's hair.

I have not seen Falinea herself in a very, very long time.

It's reassuring to know that she still wanders the Lands, though.

I ran into a very large patch of Nightli flowers, but was unable to find even a single seed among all these blooms.

The latest Chaos Storm brought a welcome change for some of us oldsters.

Our old trainers learned some new tricks, and now judge our expertise more finely at higher levels.

And Evus should well be astounded, since we'd been searching for more to learn together for quite some time.

I've heard several other new assessments as well, and I suspect these will be making their way into new trainer macro magics quite soon.

At long last, all my recent Swengus training paid off, as Balthus recognized my accumulated skill and offered to let me help him train others.

Regia should likewise be fairly near to offering me a similar deal.

But first, I need retrain some in Fell Blade to make up for all the skill I have let slip while single-mindedly training with Swengus recently.
